The most common floor covering for padel courts, which is also used in national and international tournaments,
is artificial turf. However, the FlP does not categorically rule out the use of other types of flooring, as can be seen
from the association's requirements: "The surface of the playing field should be made of porous concrete or cement,
synthetic material or artificial turf, provided that it allows the ball to bounce off evenly and prevents the accumulation of water.
The artificial turf systems used in padel differ significantly from those used in field hockey and football. These systems
are sand-filled, with visible fiber lengths ranging from 2 to 3 mm, and they do not use plastic granules for backfilling.
The turf must provide shock absorption of over 20%, offer friction resistance between 0.4 and 0.8, and achieve a ball bounce
rate of more than 80%. This last criterion applies to all types of flooring. To meet the unique demands of padel, several European
manufacturers have recently developed specialized products tailored specifically for the sport.
Many tennis clubs, tennis ball suppliers, and municipalities are considering whether to invest in padel courts to enhance their sports
offerings for members and users. Padel tennis is a dynamic and fast-paced racquet sport played by four players on a court enclosed
by Plexiglas or lattice fencing. This sport has gained immense popularity in various parts of the world, particularly in the Mediterranean
and South America, and is now making significant inroads in Europe. As a result, an increasing number of tennis clubs are planning to
construct their own padel courts to diversify their activities and attract new members.
